Expansion Tank

Mainly found in cars with a sealed cooling system, an expansion tank helps to maintain an optimum temperature for the engine to function. It is partially filled with air to provide a cushioning effect, which allows the heated coolant to expand without causing the whole cooling system to fail and become over-pressurised.
